Residents of Kakamega County were on Wednesday left in great shock after a man brutally murdered his own father following a disagreement over napier grass.
The tragic incident has caused fear and sadness in the village as people struggle to understand how a son could take the life of his parent over such a small issue.
According to a report shared by local sources, the man entered his father’s garden and started cutting napier grass without seeking permission. When his father confronted him and asked why he was doing that, the man became very angry.
He then suddenly turned violent, ambushing his old father and attacking him in a cruel manner. Witnesses said the argument that started as a simple family misunderstanding quickly turned deadly.
Police officers who visited the scene confirmed that the suspect used a hammer and a rungu to hit his father several times until he stopped breathing, dying on the spot.
“It was a very brutal attack. The man used dangerous tools and did not show any mercy to his father,” one of the officers said while speaking to journalists.
After committing the crime, the suspect reportedly fled from the scene to avoid arrest.
However, police officers launched a quick search and managed to track him down within hours. He was arrested and is now being held in custody as investigations continue.
“We have already recovered the hammer and rungu used in the attack. The suspect will face murder charges once investigations are complete,” another officer confirmed.
The sad incident has left many residents in fear and disbelief. Some community members have called on families to find peaceful ways to solve domestic disagreements instead of resorting to violence.
