On Thursday, as reported by one of the media houses, Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino strongly denied claims that he is against ODM Party boss Raila Odinga.

The youthful MP said Kenyans should treat such stories as false and misleading. He explained that he has never opposed Raila Odinga and has no plans of doing so.

The lawmaker also took the chance to urge all ODM Party leaders to remain united and strong as the country prepares for the 2027 general elections.

He reminded them that Raila Odinga had already cleared the air by stating that he has not endorsed President William Ruto’s re-election bid.

According to Babu, ODM will have its own candidate in the next elections. He told party leaders not to be confused by false information.

Babu Owino further gave a very firm statement about his loyalty to the party. He said if a day ever comes when he goes against ODM, he will step down as Embakasi East MP.

He added that after resigning, he would come back to Parliament either under another party or as an independent candidate to ask voters to re-elect him. He made it clear that betraying Raila Odinga is not an option for him.

“If I ever oppose my party leader Raila Odinga, I will resign immediately, because Raila is a leader I respect and I cannot betray him.”

The Embakasi East MP also had a strong warning to his fellow ODM leaders who are already showing support for President William Ruto ahead of 2027.

He said such behavior only shows greed and personal interest. Babu advised them to remain in the opposition and trust in Raila Odinga’s leadership.

He told them, “Those who are rushing to endorse Ruto are not honest. We must stay as opposition and rely on Raila Odinga.”
