BREAKING: Moses Kuria Quits Ruto’s Government After Just 10 Months in Top Role

Former Cabinet Secretary and current Senior Economic Advisor to the President, Moses Kuria, has officially resigned from government.

In a surprise statement on Tuesday evening, Kuria confirmed he had met with President William Ruto, who accepted his resignation. His exit comes less than a year after he was appointed to advise the President on economic matters.

"I met my boss and my friend, President Ruto, and he kindly accepted my decision to resign," Kuria said in a statement.

Kuria also took the moment to thank the President for trusting him with three major roles in government:

Cabinet Secretary for Investments, Trade and Industry (11 months)

Cabinet Secretary for Public Service (9 months)

Senior Economic Advisor (10 months)

Although he didn’t clearly state why he stepped down, Kuria mentioned he is now shifting his focus to "personal interests."

“I am proud of the work the President and I did together to push the Bottom-Up Economic Plan, which we developed during the 2022 elections,” he added.

His resignation comes at a time when tension is rising in the country due to the ongoing Gen Z protests, which he has been commenting on with unclear messages.

For now, Kuria exits the stage without revealing his next political move — but his departure is sure to stir conversation in Kenya’s political circles.
