On Thursday, Osesi, an ally of the former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, cautioned politicians in the country against publicly revealing the amounts they donate to churches.
In a statement, Osesi emphasized that making such donations public could spark tensions between churches and the Kenyan people, particularly when the government is perceived as neglecting pressing issues affecting citizens.
"It’s good to make a donation, but there is no need to announce the specific amount publicly. Let’s avoid this practice," he stated.
Osesi also called on President William Ruto to balance his focus on churches with the urgent need to address challenges in vital public sectors such as education and healthcare.
He suggested that it would be more beneficial for the government to direct resources towards helping ordinary Kenyans rather than prioritizing donations to churches.
He further pointed out that churches are unlikely to accept donations if the needs of the Kenyan people remain unaddressed.
