"We Knew He Was Going to Die" Shock as ODM MP Reveals While Mourning Raila Odinga’s Death

Suna East Member of Parliament Junet Mohamed has spoken out emotionally following the death of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, saying the loss has left a deep wound in the hearts of many Kenyans.

Speaking at Parliament Buildings shortly after news of Raila’s passing broke, Junet revealed that although they were aware of the former premier’s deteriorating health, they never imagined he would die so soon.

“We knew death would come one day, but not now. We thought we still had more years with him. This is a pain too heavy to bear,” Junet said tearfully.

The ODM legislator described Raila as a father figure, mentor, and a true patriot who dedicated his entire life to fighting for justice, equality, and democracy in Kenya.

“Raila was more than a politician — he was a symbol of hope for millions. He sacrificed his comfort so that Kenyans could enjoy freedom and fairness,” he added.

Junet urged Kenyans to remain united during this period of mourning, calling on leaders across the political divide to honor Raila’s legacy by promoting peace and national cohesion.

“We must continue his mission. Kenya has lost a great man, but his dream for a better nation must never die,” Junet concluded.

Raila Odinga passed away on Wednesday, October 15, while receiving treatment in India. His death has triggered a nationwide wave of grief, with supporters gathering at his Karen home and in Bondo to pay their last respects.
