"The Time is Not on Your Side" – Edwin Sifuna Urged to Swiftly Take ODM Leadership After Raila's Death

Speaking on Monday during an interview with Citizen Digital, lawyer Nelson Havi urged Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna to quickly take over the leadership of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and begin acting as the party boss.

Havi said that time is not on Sifuna’s side and that delay might cost both him and the party’s stability.

Havi added that after the passing of Raila Odinga, many in ODM are thirsty to seize the leadership. He said that since Sifuna is fit for the role and capable of leading, he should not wait.

“This is the moment for Sifuna to step up,” Havi stated.

He further warned that if Sifuna allows someone else to take the leadership, then before being pushed out of the party, his enemies—especially inside ODM—might do unthinkable things to him, since he is among the few insisting the party remains in opposition.

Havi also cautioned that if Sifuna delays and lets others take over, he will later regret it. His reputation could be tarnished, and he may constantly face criticism and intimidation from those who ascend to power.
