Defence Cabinet Secretary Soipan Tuya left many Kenyans talking after she made a heartwarming return to her former school dressed in a full school uniform.
Tuya visited Ole Ntutu Arid Zone Comprehensive School in Narok County on Friday, October 10, 2025, as part of this year’s Mazingira Day celebrations.
In photos shared on her official X (Twitter) page, the CS was seen blending with pupils while wearing a light blue dress with a matching collar and a grey sweater — the same uniform worn by the current learners.
“Today was a nostalgic return to my alma mater, Ole Ntutu Arid Zone Comprehensive School, to mark Mazingira Day 2025. We came together to demonstrate the power of partnership in restoring our environment,” Tuya wrote.
The nostalgic visit, which stirred emotions both online and among attendees, saw Tuya interact warmly with pupils and teachers — a gesture many described as a reminder of humility and leadership by example.
As part of the event, Tuya also joined the students in a tree-planting exercise, reinforcing the government’s commitment to environmental restoration and conservation.
The celebration brought together several leaders, including Narok South MP Kitilai Ntutu, Narok County Commissioner Kipkech Lotiatia, Deputy Air Force Commander Brigadier Samuel Kipkorir, and Maasai Mara University Vice Chancellor Prof. Peninah Aloo Obudho, alongside alumni and members of the local community.
Interestingly, Tuya’s move mirrored that of Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa, who weeks earlier had also gone viral after visiting a primary school in Kakamega County dressed in a full pupil’s uniform.
Barasa, known for his trademark red fez hat, had left it behind and instead appeared barefoot in brown shorts and a white shirt, symbolically reliving his childhood school days. He even joined pupils in digging the soil and planting trees during the event.
Both leaders’ gestures have been praised as inspiring reminders that education, humility, and environmental stewardship remain vital pillars for Kenya’s future.
