On Thursday, while speaking in a Parliament committee, Nandi Hills Member of Parliament Bernard Kitur shocked many when he said that his life is in danger.
The MP claimed that since Wednesday evening, he has been receiving death threats from people he believes are officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
“I am being threatened by individuals I suspect are DCI officers. They want to silence me permanently,” he told the committee.
The MP went on to say that he has no idea why these threats are being made. He said he has not done anything wrong to deserve such treatment.
“I have not committed any crime. I am just doing my job as a Member of Parliament,” Kitur stated.
MP Kitur called on the government to take action and protect him. He said he needs more bodyguards to keep him safe from harm.
“The government must increase my security. I cannot walk freely anymore because I fear for my life,” he pleaded.
He warned that if the government does not act fast, the people behind the threats might attack him soon.
“If nothing is done, they can get me any day, any time. I am not safe,” Kitur said.
