ODM Leaders Pledge Support for Ruto After Raila’s Death

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has pledged to support President William Ruto following the death of its party leader, Raila Odinga.

During a meeting held at Dr. Oburu Odinga’s home in Bondo, Siaya County, party delegates agreed that ODM would remain in the broad-based government and back Ruto ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Acting Party Leader Dr. Oburu Odinga confirmed that the party’s support for Ruto was in line with Raila’s final wishes before his passing on October 15, 2025, in India.

“We will continue supporting President Ruto for the sake of peace and unity. This is what Raila wanted,” Oburu said.

The leaders dismissed reports of division within ODM, maintaining that the party remains united and committed to national stability.

The meeting also resolved to endorse Oburu Odinga as the new ODM Party Leader, pending formal approval by the party’s top organs.
