Kapsaret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi has come out strongly to condemn police brutality in the country following the death of Albert Ojwang.
Taking to his social media account, Sudi said that such acts have no place in our society.
“As a parent, the news of the death of Albert Ojwang has left me speechless. I can't imagine the pain his family is going through now,” he said.
Sudi called on security agencies to act quickly and bring those responsible to justice. He reminded the public that the current government had promised to end mysterious killings and had already made good progress.
However, he noted that some individuals in the system may still be dragging the country backwards.
“Security agencies must move fast and take appropriate action against culprits. This administration vowed to end mysterious killings and has made great steps, but it seems there are a few weak links taking us back,” he added.
He also sent his condolences to the family of Albert Ojwang, praying for them to find peace and strength during this hard time.
In his statement, the MP made it clear that he is mourning with the Ojwang family and asked the government to speed up investigations.
“Justice must be served. Those who did this must face the law,” Sudi said.
Sudi further warned against police officers harming or killing innocent citizens, especially activists.
“It is wrong and unacceptable for any officer to harm or take the life of someone speaking for the people. We cannot allow such behavior in our country,” he stated.
