A wealthy businessman from Vihiga County who was living in Nigeria was buried with his car, a black Toyota Prado V8, just as he had wished in his will.
The man, whose name has not been shared widely by the family, had told his loved ones that when he dies, he wanted to be laid to rest with the car he loved most.
According to his family, the businessman was attacked last month by unknown goons while coming from the bank. Shockingly, the attackers did not take anything from him—not even the money he had just withdrawn.
“They didn’t steal anything. It looks like they only wanted to kill him,” one family member said.
The family also revealed that the tycoon had always said that when he dies, he should be buried together with his expensive vehicle.
“He used to say, ‘When I die, don’t leave my car behind. Let me go with it,’” said another relative during the burial.
They added that it was written in his will that his body should be placed inside the car, and then the whole car should be lowered into the grave before being covered with soil.
“That was his last wish, and we had to respect it,” the family stated during the burial ceremony.
After the burial video was shared online, many Kenyans on social media were shocked. People were wondering why someone would choose to be buried with such an expensive car instead of leaving it behind for the family or donating it.
One user wrote, “This is unbelievable, I have never seen something like this in my life.”
Others felt it was unnecessary and a waste. Some even called it selfish. Here are some of the reactions from Kenyans on Facebook and X:
“That car could have helped his children or even been sold to support the family,” said Collins Wekesa.
“People have strange wishes, but this one is too much,” commented Janet Auma.
“What a waste! That car could have built a hospital,” wrote Brian Otieno.
“Maybe he didn’t trust anyone with his car,” said Millicent Njoki.
“Let people live and die the way they want. It’s their choice,” added Samuel Mwangi.
The burial has left many talking, and the video continues to spread widely online, raising debate on wealth, culture, and final wishes.
