"We Can't Tolerate This" MP Kibagendi in Trouble as Angry Ruto's Allies Call for His Arrest After Insulting CS Duale in Parliament

Drama unfolded in Parliament on Tuesday, October 14, after a heated confrontation erupted between Kitutu Chache South MP Anthony Kibagendi and Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale during a National Assembly Health Committee session.

The fiery exchange, which brought the session to a temporary halt, has since sparked outrage among President William Ruto’s allies, who are now calling for Kibagendi’s arrest over what they termed as “disrespectful conduct” towards a Cabinet Secretary.

According to sources within the committee, the clash began after CS Duale accused the MP of being linked to two health facilities that were recently shut down over fraud-related allegations.

“I have closed your hospitals,” Duale declared, prompting an angry reaction from the legislator.

“I have no hospitals, and I have never owned even a dispensary!” Kibagendi retorted sharply.

The situation escalated when Kibagendi accused Duale of arrogance and of hiding behind his ties with the President to avoid scrutiny over the Social Health Authority (SHA).

“You cannot come here and lecture us. We are not your children! Who are you—just because you’re the President’s friend?” Kibagendi shouted as committee members struggled to restore order.

Duale stood his ground, insisting that several committee members had conflicts of interest and should not be allowed to question him on SHA matters.

“Some of the members of this committee own hospitals. If you want me to name them, I will,” Duale said defiantly.

Following the chaotic session, a section of Ruto’s allies condemned Kibagendi’s remarks, accusing him of breaching parliamentary decorum. Some even demanded that the MP face disciplinary action for allegedly insulting a Cabinet Secretary on official duty.

Meanwhile, Kibagendi took to Facebook to defend himself, insisting that Duale was only using diversionary tactics to avoid answering questions.

“Each time I ask CS Duale hard questions about SHA, he quickly switches to saying he has closed my hospitals — I don’t know which ones! Let him produce evidence,” he posted.

The standoff has further exposed growing divisions between pro-Ruto legislators and those perceived to be critical of government operations within key parliamentary committees.
