Residents of an Ukambani county were left in disbelief after four individuals were caught outside a governor’s residence in the dead of night allegedly performing a witchcraft ritual.
The bizarre incident, which took place around 2:00 a.m., has sparked intense discussion both online and within the local community.
According to eyewitnesses, the four suspects were found kneeling near the governor’s gate, holding a calabash, animal whiskers, and other strange objects believed to be linked to witchcraft practices.
Security guards manning the residence noticed suspicious movements near the gate and quickly alerted police officers, who rushed to the scene.
Upon arrival, the police reportedly found the suspects chanting and pouring unknown liquids on the ground. They were immediately apprehended and taken into custody for interrogation.
The dramatic arrest drew the attention of residents who flocked to the area after word of the incident spread.
Police confirmed the arrests and said investigations are ongoing to determine the motive behind the ritual and whether it was targeted at the county leader.
Photos circulating on social media show the suspects seated on the ground surrounded by the mysterious paraphernalia. The images have since gone viral, with Kenyans expressing mixed reactions — some shocked, others citing it as proof of lingering traditional beliefs.
Local leaders have condemned the act and urged residents to avoid such practices, calling for peaceful and lawful ways to handle grievances.
Police said the suspects will be arraigned in court once investigations are concluded.
