Shock as Popular Lawyer Attacks Ex-Lover Inside Her Car, Murders Her in Cold Blood as Children Watch Helplessly

A California man who works as a lawyer, identified as Dushan McBride, was sentenced to 95 years to life in prison after being found guilty of brutally killing his ex-girlfriend, Rashanda Franklin.

The shocking murder, which happened in Richmond, California, took place in front of the woman’s children, who could only watch helplessly.

According to reports, McBride and Franklin had been in a confrontation for several days before they ended their relationship about two years ago.

What exactly pushed the lawyer to commit the murder is still not clearly known, but police revealed that McBride had been stalking and harassing Franklin for weeks after she dumped him.

The attack appeared to have been planned, as he followed her before carrying out the deadly act.

The police report states that Franklin was driving her children home from church when McBride cut off her car at an intersection in Richmond, got out, and ordered her to come out of her vehicle.

When she stepped out, she reportedly pleaded with him, saying, “I’ve got my kids in the car.” But McBride ignored her pleas, replying, “I ain’t playing with you,” before opening fire and shooting her several times in front of the terrified children.

The murder happened in 2017, but McBride was only sentenced in 2025 after a court found him guilty of first-degree murder, firearm use, and stalking.

During the court hearing, the prosecutor said the long sentence should serve as an example to men who continue to harass or harm women after a breakup.

He added that the punishment would bring justice and peace to the family of the deceased woman.

“This ruling sends a strong message that violence against women will not be tolerated,” the prosecutor said.
