Shock as Autopsy Confirms What Was Found in The Head of Mourner After Kasarani Stampede

New details have emerged following the tragic incident that occurred during the chaotic viewing of the late Raila Odinga’s body at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.

Autopsy examinations have confirmed that one of the victims who died during the stampede was shot in the head, revealing a shocking twist in what was initially believed to be a case of suffocation and panic.

According to human rights activist Hussein Khalid, three people lost their lives to gunshot wounds, with one suffering a fatal bullet lodged in the head, confirming that police officers opened fire on mourners.

The chaos unfolded on October 16, 2025, when thousands of Kenyans gathered at Kasarani to pay their last respects to the former Prime Minister.

What was meant to be a solemn national event turned into a deadly stampede after police reportedly fired live bullets and teargas to control the swelling crowd.

Disturbing videos captured moments of panic and confusion as mourners screamed and ran for safety. Interior CS Kipchumba Murkomen was seen on camera signaling officers to stop shooting at the crowd.

Police, however, claimed that chaos erupted after mourners forced open one of the stadium gates, but the latest autopsy reports have cast doubt on that explanation.

Another victim, a mother of three, reportedly died after suffocating in the ensuing stampede. Medical Services PS Ouma Oluga confirmed that more than 100 people sustained injuries during the chaos.

Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has since pledged to cater for the burial costs of the victims, while the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) has launched an investigation into the fatal shootings.

The revelations have sparked national outrage, with many Kenyans demanding justice for the victims and accountability from the police.
