President William Ruto is reportedly preparing for a major Cabinet reshuffle that could see several new faces join his administration, including leaders from the KANU camp.
Sources close to State House reveal that Ruto plans to expand his government to accommodate more political allies, particularly those aligned with KANU chairman Gideon Moi, following what insiders describe as “successful reconciliation talks.”
The discussions, which took place recently between President Ruto and Gideon Moi, are said to have resulted in Moi agreeing to step down from the Baringo senatorial by-election in exchange for a senior position in government.
Fresh details now indicate that the KANU boss has already submitted a list of names of key figures to be considered for government appointments — and his own name reportedly tops the list.
If confirmed, the move would mark Gideon Moi’s return to government, years after he strongly criticized Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza administration.
Political commentator Tony Gachoka hinted at the development, saying only a few from KANU had opted to stay out of the new power deal.
“As far as I know, only two people are not joining government — George Wainaina, KANU Secretary, and myself, as I focus on my Nairobi gubernatorial bid. Apart from us, the chairman already has a strong list of nominees under vetting for top government roles,” Gachoka claimed.
The looming reshuffle has sparked political excitement, with analysts suggesting that President Ruto is seeking to broaden his political base ahead of the 2027 general elections by bringing former rivals into his fold.
