Kenya is preparing to bid farewell to former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, whose death in India has left the nation in mourning.
According to details shared by Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, a special team was sent to India to bring home the body of the late opposition leader.
Raila passed away on Wednesday, October 15, while receiving treatment in Kerala, India. President William Ruto, in a somber announcement, said Raila would be accorded a full state burial with military honours. The President also declared a seven-day period of national mourning to honour his legacy.
To manage the arrangements, a national funeral committee was formed. The committee is co-chaired by Deputy President Kithure Kindiki and Siaya Senator Oburu Oginga, who is Raila’s elder brother.
