In a shocking turn of events, the final resting place of former Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga has allegedly been vandalised just days after his grand state funeral in Bondo, Siaya County.
Reports indicate that unidentified individuals, believed to be local residents, tampered with the gravesite soon after the burial ceremony concluded.
The burial, attended by top government officials, foreign dignitaries, and thousands of mourners, had marked the official end of the national mourning period for the veteran opposition leader.
However, new information and unverified footage circulating online appear to show that the freshly constructed mound over the grave was disturbed, raising concerns about security and public respect for the late politician’s resting place.
Police, Family Yet to Comment
Although police are yet to issue an official statement, the incident has sparked widespread outrage and speculation over the motive behind the alleged act.
Some have suggested it could be a ritualistic move, while others believe it might have been a deliberate attempt to dishonour the Odinga family and their legacy.
The Odinga family has not released a public statement regarding the reported vandalism. However, sources close to the family say security around the compound is expected to be tightened as authorities move in to investigate.
Police are reportedly preparing to launch a detailed inquiry to identify those involved and assess the extent of the damage.
