Detectives in Nairobi are investigating a chilling robbery at Kabete Vet Lab Secondary School, where two security guards lost their lives after a violent night attack captured on CCTV.
The incident happened on the night of October 17, 2025, just as students were winding up preparations for the KCSE examinations.
According to the CCTV footage reviewed by police, the attackers stormed the school compound under the cover of darkness, breaking into the computer lab and teachers’ residential quarters.
The chilling footage shows the gang forcing their way inside, vandalizing property, and attempting to steal electronic equipment.
The two guards on duty courageously tried to stop the intruders, but the confrontation turned deadly. One was killed instantly, while the second succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment at a nearby hospital.
One of the deceased has been identified as Kenneth Wanjala, a longtime employee of the school. His family described him as a dedicated and hardworking man whose sudden death has left them heartbroken.
Principal Evans Owala confirmed that the criminals made away with several laptops and computer accessories, though some items were found abandoned near the school fence — an indication that the attackers fled in a hurry.
“The loss of our guards is a big blow to the school community. We had just finalized preparations for the national exams when this tragedy struck,” Owala said.
A nearby watchman who heard the commotion raised an alarm, prompting the administration to rush to the scene. Sadly, by the time they arrived, one of the guards had already passed away.
Investigations are ongoing, with police analyzing the CCTV footage to identify the suspects. Early reports suggest that some of those involved could be former students who were expelled, a revelation that has raised new concerns about security in schools.
Authorities have urged anyone with information that could lead to the arrest of the culprits to come forward as the search intensifies.
