Night Horror in Nyali as KRA Officer Found Dead After Mysterious Fall From Apartment Balcony

Residents of Nyali in Mombasa were left in shock after a 45-year-old Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) employee died following a tragic fall from the fourth floor of his apartment at night.

The deceased, identified as Koriata Laytata, reportedly slipped from the balcony of his residence at Gishanga Estate along Beach Road.

Police reports indicate that Laytata had earlier spent the evening at a nearby restaurant before returning home, only to discover that he had forgotten his house key at the eatery.

Laytata contacted the restaurant’s manager and requested that a rider deliver the key to his home. While waiting, he reportedly sat on the balcony where it is believed that he accidentally slipped and fell to the ground below.

When the rider arrived shortly after, he found Laytata lying motionless in a pool of blood on the ground floor and alerted authorities.

Police officers who responded to the scene confirmed the fatal fall and indicated that no foul play was suspected at the time.

Preliminary investigations suggest the incident was accidental, though a postmortem examination has been scheduled to establish the exact cause of death.

Laytata’s body was transferred to the mortuary as detectives continue to piece together the events leading to the fall. Authorities are also expected to review CCTV footage from the area and interview potential witnesses to rule out any other possibilities.

Police have urged residents to exercise caution, especially in high-rise buildings with open balconies.
