Shock and grief engulfed Kabete Vet Lab Secondary School after a violent night robbery left one soldier dead and another injured.
The attack occurred shortly after the completion of KCSE exam preparations, sending shockwaves through the community.
According to the school principal, Mr. Owala, the robbery took place late at night when unknown assailants broke into the compound and overpowered the guards on duty.
“When I arrived at the compound, one guard was already dead and the other was still breathing. He died while being rushed to the hospital,” Owala recounted, noting that the attackers appeared to know the school layout very well.
One of the deceased guards was identified as Kenneth Wanjala, a dedicated soldier recently deployed to provide extra security at the institution.
The principal revealed that the attackers stole ten laptops and several desktop keyboards, though some were dropped during their escape. They also destroyed CCTV cameras in the corridors.
Despite their efforts to conceal evidence, police recovered critical CCTV footage that hinted at the suspects’ identities. Shockingly, the footage revealed that the attackers were former Form Four students who had been expelled earlier for indiscipline.
Kikuyu Sub-County Police Commander confirmed that an investigation was launched immediately, and several suspects have already been arrested.
“We have retrieved vital evidence and are pursuing the remaining suspects. Justice will be served,” he said.
