Speaking while in Kisumu County on Saturday morning, Professor George Wajackoyah mourned the late Raila Odinga, describing him as a long-time friend and a true hero.
He said that his friendship with Raila started many years ago, even before the election period. Wajackoyah noted that Raila was not just a political figure but also a man who touched many lives through his courage and leadership.
In his emotional statement, Wajackoyah revealed a shocking story about his past with Raila. He claimed that during a trip to London many years ago, he served as Raila’s personal food taster.
According to him, there was a time when food meant for Raila was poisoned, but he accidentally ate it first.
“I ate poison on his behalf when we were in London. I thank God that I survived. That is how deep our friendship was,” he said with a heavy heart.
Wajackoyah went on to say that he had always been close to the Odinga family and respected Raila as a father figure and a source of inspiration.
He added that Raila’s courage, resilience, and love for Kenya will never be forgotten.
“Raila inspired me in many ways. I pray that God receives his soul in a peaceful place,” Wajackoyah concluded.
