“He Saw What Others Couldn’t”: Embakasi North MP Hints Why Gachagua Skipped Raila’s Requiem Mass

Embakasi North MP Amos Mwago has finally broken his silence over the surprising absence of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua during the Nyayo Stadium requiem mass held in honor of the late Raila Odinga.

Speaking with emotion and visible conviction, Mwago implied that Gachagua’s decision to stay away wasn’t coincidental — nor out of disrespect — but rather a move guided by something deeper.

“Former DP Rigathi Gachagua, Riggy G, did not attend Baba Raila Odinga’s requiem mass at Nyayo Stadium,” Mwago told mourners. “He had seen far beyond what eyes can see.”

His cryptic statement quickly sparked speculation across political circles. Was Gachagua warned of possible hostility? Or did he sense that the atmosphere at Nyayo would be politically charged?

Mwago went on to highlight how even prominent Azimio figures such as Kalonzo Musyoka and Martha Karua were denied a chance to address the crowd — painting a picture of tension at an event meant to unite.

“Imagine denying Kalonzo Musyoka and Martha Karua the microphone to speak to Kenyans,” Mwago said. “If that could happen to them, what worse could have happened to Riggy G?”

The remarks have left Kenyans questioning whether the former DP’s absence was a show of caution, strategy, or silent protest.

Gachagua has remained quiet since Raila’s passing and has yet to publicly explain his absence, further fueling speculation about internal political rifts.

As the country continues to mourn Raila Odinga — a leader whose influence shaped decades of Kenyan politics — Mwago’s comments have reopened debate on the fragile unity within the political class.

“It shall be well,” Mwago concluded. “But we shall never forget.”
