A wave of grief has swept across the nation after a video capturing the late former Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga’s final morning walk in Kochi, India, surfaced online, showing his last peaceful moments before his sudden death.
According to multiple reports, Raila appeared strong, calm, and composed during his usual morning routine, walking along a quiet path near his hotel just after sunrise. His long-time bodyguard, Maurice Ogeta, followed closely behind — as he had done faithfully for years — keeping watch over the ODM leader.
Witnesses who saw him that morning said Raila exchanged brief greetings with a few Kenyans who recognized him before continuing his walk. Moments later, he reportedly paused to catch his breath before collapsing.
Ogeta and nearby security officers rushed to his aid and quickly took him to a nearby hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead from a heart attack.
The short clip of his final walk, now viral on social media, has left many Kenyans emotional. It shows the veteran leader walking with his familiar steady stride — a man whose life symbolized resilience, humility, and an unshakable commitment to democracy.
Sources close to his team revealed that Raila had remained optimistic during his final 72 hours, often talking about returning home soon and making “a few changes” once he recovered.
