Ruto Hands Out Top Jobs: Ex-Governor Samboja Gets Key Role in Pyrethrum Firm

President William Ruto has given former Taita Taveta Governor Granton Samboja a new job.

Samboja will now be the Chairman of the Pyrethrum Processing Company of Kenya. This means he will help lead the company for the next three years. The announcement was made through an official government notice.

Samboja was Taita Taveta’s Governor from 2017 to 2022. He was elected under the Wiper party. During his time in office, most of the county's leaders (MCAs) wanted to remove him, accusing him of misuse of funds. But the Senate later said he was not guilty, and he stayed in office.

In 2022, he tried to become Governor again but lost to Andrew Mwadime. Since then, Samboja went back to working in media. He owns Anguo FM and hosts a gospel radio show. He’s also a preacher.

President Ruto also gave two more people new roles. One is former army officer Lt. Gen. Adan Mulata. He will now lead the National Youth Service Council for three years. Mulata has had a long military career and even survived a death threat during the 1982 coup in Kenya.

The third person appointed is John Mwangi Karondo. He will now serve on the State Corporations Advisory Committee. This new job replaces Joseph Kimani Machiri, who was removed from the position.
