In a passionate plea to President William Ruto, Gatundu North Member of Parliament, Kururia Njoroge, has urged the head of state to consider turning the Jesus Winner Ministry Church in Roysambu into a designated polling station ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking during a Sunday church service on March 2, 2025, which President Ruto attended, Kururia emphasized the need to support the church's large community of believers by making voting more accessible for them.
The independent MP, who was elected in 2022, argued that the church’s members are committed to supporting Ruto, and making the church a polling center would ensure a smoother voting process for its congregation.
"As we head into the 2027 elections, we ask that Jesus Winner Ministry be made a polling station. We come here often, and this would make it easier for us to register and vote without traveling far," Kururia stated, drawing cheers from the churchgoers.
The lawmaker also took a moment to praise President Ruto for his ongoing support of the church, particularly for his financial contributions towards the church’s construction.
Kururia recounted how the president stepped in to help when the church was facing challenges in acquiring land for the new building.
"Thank you for your unwavering support, especially when the church faced challenges during land acquisition. Without your intervention, this project would not have moved forward," Kururia said, acknowledging Ruto's prompt actions and continued support.
In addition to the proposal, Kururia expressed confidence that the president’s involvement with the church will only strengthen the bond between the church community and the government.
