Reports that two Kenyan officers had been killed in Haiti caused alarm, but the Gang Suppression Force (GSF) has now confirmed that all its personnel are safe.
In a statement released on Monday, the multinational force clarified that no Kenyan officer lost their life during recent operations in the Caribbean nation.
The GSF said the operation was carried out with the Haitian National Police (PNH) and the Haitian Armed Forces (FAD’H) in the Artibonite region, along the Petite-Rivière–Liancourt–Pont Sondé route.
The mission aimed to dismantle gang networks and reopen transport routes blocked by armed groups.
During the operation, members of the Gran-Griff gang offered heavy resistance, which sparked rumours that Kenyan officers had died.
The GSF, however, confirmed that these reports were false and that all officers returned safely.
The clarification puts an end to the panic and reassures the public that Kenyan forces remain unharmed while carrying out their mission abroad.
