Suba North Member of Parliament, Millie Odhiambo, has announced the passing of her brother-in-law, Reverend Canon John Edward Limo, just hours after the burial of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga in Bondo.
Reverend Limo, who was married to Millie’s sister, Violet Odhiambo Limo, passed away on Sunday, October 19, 2025.
Millie shared the heartbreaking news on social media, noting that despite his illness, Reverend Limo had recently hosted her during her visit to Apple Valley, California, personally driving her to and from the airport.
Earlier, during Raila Odinga’s funeral, Millie delivered an emotional tribute to the late opposition leader.
She recalled her last conversation with him and condemned those who had prematurely declared him dead before his passing. Her heartfelt speech deeply moved many mourners and viewers alike.
Raila Odinga, who passed away on October 15, 2025, in India at the age of 80, was laid to rest in a peaceful Anglican service attended by thousands of mourners, relatives, and dignitaries.
His burial in Bondo marked the conclusion of a week of national grief, which had been overshadowed by some tragic incidents.
Millie Odhiambo’s announcement of her brother-in-law’s death comes at a particularly emotional time for the family, adding to the wave of mourning sweeping across Kenya following the loss of one of the nation’s most prominent political figures.
