Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni has stunned the public with a powerful return to the spotlight, ending weeks of speculation about his health.
The 81-year-old leader appeared energetic and confident as he addressed a packed rally at Paridi Stadium in Adjumani on Monday, October 20.
For weeks, Museveni’s absence from public view had sparked rumours of illness, especially after he skipped the state burial of Kenya’s former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
However, his latest appearance—walking unaided and speaking with trademark authority—dispelled those claims instantly.
“I thank the people of Adjumani and the entire West Nile for their warmth and loyalty. Continue supporting NRM, and we shall achieve even more,” Museveni declared to loud cheers.
His rally comes just days after Uganda’s electoral commission confirmed him on the 2026 presidential ballot.
Backed by the ruling NRM, Museveni is eyeing yet another term, extending his near four-decade rule.
Meanwhile, opposition leader Bobi Wine is also cleared to contest, setting up another tense faceoff between the two political giants.
Museveni’s comeback has not only silenced critics but also reignited debate on Uganda’s political future—proving that, for now, the long-serving leader isn’t going anywhere.
