The Wiper Democratic Movement is facing internal turbulence after one of its senior members openly declared withdrawal of support for party leader Kalonzo Musyoka in the upcoming 2027 general elections.
In a bold statement, the politician said they had lost confidence in Kalonzo’s chances of clinching the presidency, adding that they would instead rally behind Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino.
“I will not back Kalonzo Musyoka in 2027 because I do not believe he can win. My support will go to MP Babu Owino,” the leader stated.
The declaration has deepened divisions within the Wiper Party, signaling a possible realignment ahead of the next polls.
It also highlights the growing influence of Babu Owino, who continues to attract attention from younger politicians and voters across the country.
This latest fallout raises questions about Kalonzo’s ability to maintain unity within his party as political alliances begin to shift in preparation for 2027.
