As reported by some sources, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) is preparing to arrest several politicians immediately after the burial of the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, which is expected to take place on Sunday.
According to the report, most of the leaders being monitored by the DCI are from the opposition.
These politicians have often been vocal against the government, sometimes being accused of spreading false information or inciting the public during national events.
Security agencies are said to have already drawn a list of individuals who could face arrest if they go against the law during or after the funeral.
The report further says that if any opposition leaders begin to politicize Raila’s death, use hate speech, or make statements that may hurt the Odinga family or disturb public peace, they will be arrested, taken to court, and charged.
“No one will be allowed to use this sad moment to create tension or divide Kenyans. Anyone who breaks the law will face the consequences,” a source was quoted saying.
The government has also appealed to all political leaders to respect the moment and allow the former Prime Minister to rest in peace.
“We urge all leaders to stand with Raila Odinga’s family during this difficult time and avoid any political games that may bring more pain,” said an official from the Ministry of Interior.
