Former Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana has cautioned that President William Ruto might soon find himself alone and weakened.
According to him, it was through former Prime Minister Raila that Ruto managed to maintain his leadership, by taking advantage of Raila's popularity among Kenyans and some politicians.
He warned that with Raila absent, politicians allied to him could easily abandon Ruto and align with public sentiment the moment they feel he is failing or not doing the right thing.
The former county chief says this puts Ruto in a tough position, leaving him with only one option: to serve Kenyans the way they want.
“This absence of Raila calls on the president to do more,” he said during an interview on Citizen TV on Tuesday morning.
This follows Raila's death while undergoing treatment in India last Wednesday. The politician was laid to rest in Bondo, Siaya County, on Sunday.
