On Sunday, Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja broke his silence and pointed fingers at his political opponents for causing recent chaos during peaceful protests in Nairobi.
According to a report by Citizen Digital, Sakaja claimed that the same people who hired goons to disrupt the demonstrations are now working hard to destroy his reputation.
“They are busy tarnishing my name, yet they are the real ones behind the violence. I have always stood for peace, and they know this. But they are using lies to shift blame to me," Sakaja said.
The Governor added that he is already pushing for action. He said that the Directorate of Criminal Investigations will arrest those responsible. He also promised to follow up with the Director of Public Prosecutions so that those found guilty can face justice.
“I will make sure the DCI gets them, and I will personally follow up with the DPP until they are taken to court and jailed,” Sakaja declared.
At the same time, Sakaja called on President William Ruto to protect him. He claimed that unknown individuals have been attacking his name since early morning.
“I ask the president to step in. Since morning, unknown people have been out to ruin my name, and I need protection," he said.
