On Thursday, an activist who spoke to Tuko journalists shared some sad news. The activist, who asked not to be named for safety reasons, said that some Gen Z protesters who went missing during the June 25 protests were actually arrested. He revealed that the missing youths are expected to be taken to court soon.
According to the activist, he had a private chat with one of the victims shortly before they disappeared. He shared screenshots of their messages, saying that unknown people followed them as they were heading home after the protest.
The activist said, “They were ambushed, their faces were covered, and they were forced into a Subaru car by people they didn’t know.”
He went on to say that even his own brother was one of those who disappeared that day. He shared that his family is living in fear because they have not heard from him since the protest.
“His phone is off, and we can’t reach him. As a family, we are very worried. We just want to know where he is,” the activist added.
One local media house reported that a large number of Gen Z protesters were kidnapped by people believed to be linked to the government. Many of them are being held secretly, without communication with their families.
