In a statement made on Friday evening, a senior Supreme Court judge revealed that a country will stop being called democratic if its Supreme Court collapses or is overpowered.
He urged Kenyans to come out in large numbers to protect the Supreme Court, ensuring it doesn’t disappear or come to an end, as it is the key institution maintaining democracy in the country.
Since Kenya’s independence, the Supreme Court has upheld a vital pact, ensuring the freedom of expression and other democratic rights.
Justice Isaac also warned that when the Supreme Court collapses, democracy ends, not only in Kenya but in other countries as well, leading to the suffering of the people.
He urged all judges serving in the Supreme Court to remain fearless in their roles.
