Wednesday, October 15, 2025 — What was meant to be a joyous homecoming in Rongo ended in heartbreak after a man’s newly purchased car was mysteriously set ablaze only hours after he arrived from Nairobi.
Witnesses say the man had proudly driven into his village to showcase his sleek new ride to family and friends, sparking excitement and admiration. Cheers filled the air as villagers gathered to celebrate his achievement.
But the jubilation was short-lived. Later that night, the same car that symbolized success was found engulfed in flames, leaving behind nothing but a charred wreck.
Relatives and neighbours rushed out in confusion and disbelief, helplessly watching as the fire consumed the vehicle.
Although the motive remains unknown, residents suspect jealousy and envy may have played a role in the shocking act.
Police have since launched a probe to uncover those behind the mysterious arson.
