Popular Catholic priest, Father Mathew Eya from Nigeria, has died in a shocking and painful way.

Reports say that he was attacked by unknown armed men while he was driving home. The priest was on the road when the gunmen suddenly struck, blocking his car and forcing him into a deadly trap.

According to witnesses and reports, the attackers first deflated the priest’s car tires by shooting at them. This action made it impossible for him to move further or escape.

After stopping the vehicle, the armed men surrounded his car to make sure he was trapped inside. Sadly, they then started firing bullets at him without mercy, ending his life on the spot.

“They made sure he had no way to run before they opened fire,” one report noted.

An eyewitness who saw the incident said the killing was not just a random act of violence, but something that appeared well-planned. The priest was not alone in the vehicle. The gunmen abducted the passengers who were with him after taking his life.

“It looked like they knew what they wanted. After shooting the priest, they quickly carried away the other people inside the car,” the eyewitness said.

The Catholic Church has also spoken after this heartbreaking tragedy. Church officials described Father Eya as a humble and faithful servant of God who touched many lives. They said his sudden death has left the entire church community in deep sorrow and pain.

“He was a man who always stood for truth and peace. His loss is not just for the church but for the whole society,” a church leader said while mourning him.

Meanwhile, police officers have already started investigations into the brutal killing. Authorities have promised that they will not rest until those behind the attack are caught.

“We are following important leads, and we assure the public that the killers will be tracked down and brought to justice,” a police spokesperson confirmed.
