A Nigerian prophet, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has stirred fresh political debate after claiming that Deputy Chief Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua stands no chance of dethroning President William Ruto in 2027 unless he bows to the will of Generation Z.
Ayodele, the leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church and the same prophet who accurately predicted Ruto’s victory in 2022, warned that Gachagua’s presidential ambitions would be an exercise in futility.
According to him, the president will fight tooth and nail to retain power, even if it means using every trick in the book.
“Kenya’s former deputy president contesting will not change anything. Ruto will deploy all his power to cling to his seat. The only force capable of pushing him out is the Gen Z generation rallying behind their own candidate,” Ayodele declared in a statement released through his media aide.
The prophecy comes just days after Gachagua boldly announced his presidential bid, vowing that his first act in office would be scrapping the controversial housing levy and compensating Kenyans whose deductions had already been made.
His announcement disrupted calculations within the opposition, where speculation has been rife about a Kalonzo Musyoka–Fred Matiang’i ticket, with Gachagua possibly playing kingmaker.
But Ayodele insists Gachagua should shelve his dream of State House and instead align himself with whichever candidate Gen Zs choose to back. He argued that without their support, no opposition figure—no matter how resourceful—can mount a serious challenge against Ruto.
This isn’t the first time Ayodele has made bold prophecies about Kenya’s politics. Before the 2022 elections, he declared that Ruto would win in the first round, outmaneuvering Raila Odinga.
His prophecy turned heads then, and it is likely to spark another heated conversation now, especially as the clock ticks toward 2027.
