In Nairobi County, near Moi Avenue, it has been reported by one of the media houses that a group of goons—believed to be paid to cause chaos during peaceful protests—have started attacking innocent Kenyans who are not taking part in the demonstrations.
According to the report, many Kenyans who were simply going about their daily business were attacked and harassed. Some of them were beaten, robbed, and left injured by these violent groups. The victims were not even involved in the protests.
One of the victims, a woman, claimed that she was walking along Moi Avenue trying to find a shop to buy lunch when a group of masked men suddenly surrounded her. They took all the money she had, beat her, and she had to run and hide inside a Matatu. Inside the vehicle, she found other people also hiding from the attackers.
Meanwhile, police officers in the area were mainly focused on watching over the protestors to ensure they did not damage properties in the city.
Many Kenyans are currently protesting against ongoing police brutality in the country. They are calling on the government to act and protect them from both rogue officers and criminals.
