The government has announced 25 new appointments across five ministries, following a series of changes made by various Cabinet Secretaries.
Leading the list is Cooperatives and MSMEs Cabinet Secretary Wycliffe Oparanya, who made 15 appointments to the National and County Steering Committees on the revival of coffee through cooperatives.
According to the official notice, the committees will serve for two years, beginning October 31, 2025.
“It is notified for the general information of the public that the Cabinet Secretary for Co-operatives and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) has constituted a National Steering Committee and County Steering Committee on the revival of coffee through co-operatives for a period of two years,” the notice read.
Njeru Ndwiga will chair the National Steering Committee, while Daniel Chemno and James Wachihi Muturi will serve as the first and second vice-chairpersons, respectively.
Other appointed members include Timothy Mirugi, Laura Wanjiru, Charles Rintaugu, Kennedy Kilwake, Okioma Mwancha, Caroline Cherotich, David Obonyo, Henry Kinyua, Dr. Elijah Gichuru, Felix Mutwiri, Felix Miano, and Richard Kiprono Magut.
At the county level, each County Commissioner will co-chair the committee alongside the respective County Executive Committee (CEC) Member for Agriculture or Cooperatives, while the KPCU Representative will act as secretary.
The committee membership also includes the County Chief Officers for Agriculture and Cooperatives, a Coffee Cooperative Society/Union representative, and the County Director of Cooperatives.
In the Health Ministry, Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale appointed six members to the Nursing Council of Kenya, each to serve for three years. The new members are Collins Otieno Ajwang, Salome Nasimiyu Situma, Dr. Teckla Ngotie, Gilbert Sigei, Prof. Juliana Misore, and Sarah Marrey Burje.
Meanwhile, Energy CS Opiyo Wandayi named Lilian Bokeeye Mahiri-Zaja and Henry Gathara Karinga to the Board of Directors of the Kenya Petroleum Refineries Limited.
At the National Treasury, Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi appointed Felix Useru Nyauchi to the Insurance Tribunal, effective October 31, 2025, replacing Sammy Cheepkwony, who currently serves as Chairperson of the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC).
Lastly, Trade CS Lee Kinyanhui appointed Gor Anthony Ochieng as a member of the Kenya Consumer Protection Advisory Committee.
The latest appointments come as part of the government’s continued restructuring of key state institutions to enhance efficiency and strengthen service delivery.
